Following the success of last year’s joint Conference, the Welsh Local Government Association and Community Housing Cymru are convening a second joint event. The new Assembly Government has made housing one of its big priorities, and this Conference will give ample opportunity to find out why and how.
If you work in housing or have responsibility for a housing service, then this conference is designed for you. There’s a full programme of sessions designed to inform, provide opportunities to question and debate, and a chance to network with other stakeholders in the sector.
Key Speakers include:
Jocelyn Davies AM, Deputy Minister for Housing who will explain the Assembly’s broad housing agenda as set out in One Wales - where will the coalition be placing its priorities for housing and what will success look like?
Andrew Davies AM, Minister for Finance and Public Service Delivery will lay out the agenda for Rethinking Public Services - will reform of our public services see a focus on effective delivery as well as efficiency in procurement? And will this reform mean better housing solutions for people in Wales?
Leighton Andrews AM, Deputy Minister for Regeneration will show us how regeneration fits within the proposals made in One Wales, and will discuss how past efforts of local authorities and housing associations can inform us of the challenge ahead?
We all know that we need effective and dynamic people in housing in Wales, and Philippa Davies, author and broadcaster, will help us find and grow them!
Cllr Aled Roberts, WLGA Housing Spokesperson, and Chris O’Meara, CHC Chair, will also discuss ‘Partnership Progress’ - what’s happened since last year’s Conference, what challenges do we face in the coming year, and where are the opportunities to work better together?
In addition, there will also be an array of other sessions and workshops to choose from, exhibitions to visit, and opportunities to network among the other delegates...
An event flyer and booking form can be downloaded from the resource column to the right, and a final full event programme will be available shortly.
