Community Housing Cymru launched this recently developed initiative at the Finance, HR & IT Conference in the Vale Hotel, South Wales, in mid May 2007.
This brand new category of membership is designed for commercial organisations which offer products and services to housing associations in Wales. It allows for companies with an interest in the Welsh social housing market to become involved with CHC, contribute to our work and current debates, as well as gaining greater awareness about the work of the sector and the future developments within it.
The membership package provides a stream of information to members about news and events through quarterly e-briefings and our bi-monthly magazine Cartref. In addition to this, there will be regular opportunities to meet with key members of staff from CHC and our housing association members to discuss policy and developments within the movement. Commercial members also benefit from discounts on the cost of attending any of our specialist conferences and topical seminars that run regularly throughout the year at venues across Wales.
CHC Chief Executive Nick Bennett said, "The new category reflects the desire of Community Housing Cymru to forge stronger links with its commercial partners and build relationships that benefit the sector as a whole. The membership is aimed at all suppliers who have a stake in expanding social housing spend, either through stock transfer, through increased Social Housing Grant, or the increased business that would result from us being regulated better".
The launch event gained coverage from both ICWales and 24.dash.com.
